Hydro-Dyne Engineering Inc. draws on 40+ years of experience and is a leading manufacturer of exceptional quality screening and grit removal equipment for municipal and industrial water and wastewater facilities.

Hydro-Dyne’s full line of water and wastewater screens, screening handling and grit removal equipment provide a superior level of functionality and reliability – reducing maintenance costs and improving the performance of downstream equipment. Their stainless steel equipment is well-suited for the protection of water and wastewater treatment plants and industrial facilities.

  • Centre Flow Band Screen

Hydro-Dyne’s Great White Centre/Dual Flow Continuous Band Screen is designed to handle low-to-high flows and has been independently certified to have one of the highest screenings capture ratio of all band screens on the market.1 The dual spray wash, patented grid design, proprietary sealing system and UHMWPE guide links make this an exceptional product for the filtering and offloading of water and wastewater screenings.

Very low headlosses and extremely strong, well-reinforced grids make these centre flow (centre entrance, side exit) and dual flow (side entrance, rear exit) screens suitable for several applications in municipal and industrial water and wastewater solutions.

  • Through Flow Band Screen

Hydro-Dyne’s Bull Shark Through Flow Band Screen is ideal in a wide range of environments and is available in a variety of grid types, opening sizes and models. The screen’s extremely strong stainless steel grid reduces headlosses to well below industry standards. All stainless steel construction and UHMWPE wear surfaces provide years of trouble-free operation.

  • Tiger Shark Multi-Rake Bar Screen

Hydro-Dyne’s Tiger Shark Multi-Rake Bar Screen has been designed for large particle removal and efficiently captures a wide variety of debris. It’s heavy-duty stainless steel rakes continuously clean the bar rack with grid openings from 5—300 mm. Minimal friction is achieved using UHMWPE guide links — reducing wear and maintenance. This screen combines reliability with efficient operation.

  • Whitetip Shark Washing Compactor

Hydro-Dyne’s Whitetip Shark Washing Compactors are robust, high performing and efficient. These compactors are available in different configurations, varying in type of flow, solids collected and washing processes. Standard model designs include:

    • Whitetip Shark Washing Compactor — this compactor provides drainage, washing and compaction.
    • Whitetip Shark Washing Compactor with enhanced dewatering — this compactor provides drainage, washing, rinse, dewatering and compaction.
    • Whitetip Shark Washing Compactor with enhanced wash/dewatering — this compactor provides drainage, washing, enhanced washing, rinse, dewatering and compaction.
  • Screw Conveyor/Sluice Systems

Hydro-Dyne’s Spinner Shark Screw Conveyor and Sluice Systems provide a variety of choices for transporting solids. Both systems and are totally enclosed to ensure safety, odour control and provide aesthetics.

  • Grit Trap

Hydro-Dyne’s Sand Shark Grit Trap is a simple, effective, efficient and economical solution to your grit removal needs. In-ground and above-grade models are available from flows up to 3,066 L/s per unit. Hydro-Dyne’s vortex grit removal system includes a geared drive head and rotating flat plate impeller inside the grit collector. The Sand Shark Grit Trap is available in two models:

    • Stirred Vortex Propeller (SVP) — Grit removal capacity of 95% of 200 micron (2.65 g/cc) particles at average flow
    • Stirred Vortex Impeller (SVI) — Grit removal capacity of 95% of 300 micron (2.65 g/cc) particles at average flow.
  • Grit Classifier and Hydro-Cyclone

Hydro-Dyne’s grit dewatering equipment, the Sand Shark Grit Classifier and Sand Shark Hydro-Cyclone have been specifically designed to dewater grit slurry from wastewater. This grit removal and dewatering technology is compact, flexible, has a small footprint and can be retrofitted and customised to site conditions.

  • Reef Package Headworks

Hydro-Dyne’s Reef Packaged Headworks has been specifically designed for high screening and grit capture in a compact footprint. With flow rates of up to 110 L/s this unit has a stainless steel construction for protection from biogenic corrosion.

  • Septage Receiving Station

Hydro-Dyne’s self-contained, efficient and reliable Dusky Shark Septage Receiving Station provides high volume screenings reduction. This unit captures a wide variety of materials including solids, fibres, inorganics and grease trap material. It is ideal for wastewater screening where fine screening with low headloss is required.

  • Hammerhead On-site Screen Sizing (HOSS) Testing

Together with our partner, Hydro-Dyne Engineering, Process Wastewater offers on-site screen testing.

While the wastewater industry has evolved, the methods and formulas for headworks design and equipment sizing have remained constant. As a result, treatment plants and collection systems continue to deal with ongoing and unnecessary problems including equipment failure, and a significant reduction in overall system efficiency and performance.

On-site screen sizing provides significant information that can influence the way treatment plants design their headworks structures.

Hydro-Dyne’s Hammerhead On-site Screen Sizing (HOSS) equipment utilises an array of technologies to test and analyse a treatment plant’s unique wastewater environment, resulting in informed decisions about headworks structure design and ultimately reducing costs and improving performance and efficiency.
